Annual Review of Clean and Green City Project Held.
- Secretary informed that 30% reduction in waste generation achieved in this year through creative and continuous awareness. Law enforcement will be strengthened,
- Municipality will organize an Exhibition cum Seminar to propagate waste management technologies
- More focus will be on Action components - Principal and Project Director

Annual Review meeting of Clean and Green City Project held at the Municpal Hall. Rev. Fr. Pradeep Vazhatharamalayil (Principal, MACFAST) initiated the discussion with a briefing on project progress. Paul V Mathew (Project Officer, Clean and Green - Tiruvalla) presented the annual report. Awareness programs were the key concentration of the project in last year. Additionally, we need to concentrate more on action components this year. Even though we promote decentralized waste management, some actions of Municipality was a paradox. The only strategy to get rid of the menace of waste is the disposal of bio degradable waste at the source. He reported. While addressing the meeting, Mr. Sudheer, Municipal Secretary informed that awareness programs helped to reduce around 30% waste disposal in Municipal area. Dumping of waste by nearby LSG’s is creating serious issues.
- MLSC has decided to hold a meeting of Flat owners and Poultry/chicken center operators to discuss about waste handling at their own locations.
- MLSC decided to organize a seminar cum exhibition on waste management in March 28, 2012.
- Plastic collection mechanism will be installed immediately
- A newsletter comprises of waste management, government schemes and subsidies and legal aspects will be distributed.
- Clean and Green City Handbook shall distribute without any delay.
