Sustainable Develop should be our Approach.

"Sustainable Development should be our Approach. We are responsible to protect our mother earth and to preserve natural resources for the future.  - Dr. E.V. Ramaswami (Director, Environmental Studies, Mahatma Gandhi University) said. He was addressing a gathering at MACFAST in connection with Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations. 

Quoting the statement - water, air and earth are not an inheritance from our forefathers, but on loan to our children. So we are responsible to handover it them at least as it was given to us." , he explained the role of youth to work for environmental protection. He was taking a session on " Role of Youth to raise Environmental Consciousness". Stewardship, Sustainable development and sound technologies are the need of this hour save our earth from exploitation. The environmental issues like acid rain, global warming and oil spillage are created by human and it can be curtailed only by human. he said.

Judith Hollows, Director, MACFSAT inaugurated the function. Sneha Thomas took a presenation on Clean and Green Campus. Alex Joseph, Prejitj Vijayan, Renu spoke. 

Clean Drive at MACFSAT Road

To mark this Gandhi Jayanthi, students and teachers of MACFAST  went for a clean drive at MACFAST Road. This student initiated clean drive was an ideal model for Clean and Green Campus initiatives. Students as well as faculty members together joined to make the road clean and Green.The program has been inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Pradeep Vazhatharamalayil, Principal, MACFAST

" This initiative is an apparent evidence for creative awareness which motivates people to keep their environment clean, neat and tidy. We can create a Green earth, if people execute their own duties.The syndrome NIMBY (Not In My Backyard) shall be treated with proper awareness and people should shift to IMBY (In My Backyard) habit. It gives a message that, we are liable to keep our earth Clean, Green and healthy" Fr. Pradeep Vazhatharamalayil, Principal, MACFAST said.  Jiji Vattasserial, Councilor, Sajan Thomas, Manager IOB, Judith Hollows Director, George Mathew, Director, Radio MACFAST spoke.

"It is a part of our Clean and Green initiative which always tries for enhancing environmental consciousness in people. This will create a positive move in the minds of people and in students. All the efforts look forward to fulfill the dream Clean, Green and filth free earth."    Paul V Mathew, Project Officer, Clean and Green Tiruvalla, said.  

Students removed plastic bottles from the road side and moved it to the nearby shredder. In order to spread the message of Green Earth, Green Volunteers visited all the nearby houses and distributed awareness brochures and sweets. Addition to this, students supplied notice to all the trespassers and vehicles passed. 

Bid for Green - MACFASTians moved for Mass Environmental awarness campagin

In connection with Gandhi Jayanthi Celebrations, Clean and Green Tiruvalla organized a mass awareness campaign in 26 schools. This mass movement was led by MACFASTinas.


Students of MACFAST came forward to cheer for Green. In connection with Gandhi Jayanthi Celebrations, MACFASTians went for a mass awareness campaign in 26 schools. This mass awareness campaign was  as part of the Clean and Green Tiruvalla Project which aims for continuous awareness especially in schools.

This mass Environmental Campaign organized in 26 six schools which in a similar time (between 11 A.M.-12). This successful initiative played a crucial role in imaprting missions and visions of Clean and Green.  List of Schools associated and students participated are as follows.

" This mass awareness campaign is to  raise environmental consciousness in students. It is only students can trigger a shift in the attitude of people. This is a big leap to the project Clean and Green and this effort will create a huge impact in  society. The participation of MACFASTians  has shown their sincere and strong social commitment." Rev. Fr. Pradeep Vazhatharamalayi, Principal MACFAST said. The mass awareness campaign encompassed of video documentary screening, sessions on waste management, personal hygiene and energy conservation. A group of 2 - 5 members went to each schools and led the sessions, which has high social relevance. MACFAST team put more significance to activities rather than talks which was efficient to convey the ideas. In order to make a platform,   students were undergone training on different skills.

"Addition to the social commitment, it is was an opportunity to develop creativity in trainers and participants. .It not only motivates, but also enhance the social awareness of students.  The concept put forwarded by us has us an enormous potential to make a change. It may be slow, but results are expecting. Similar projects will be initiated in schools to empower them to preserve our mother earth.." Project Officer, Paul V Mathew said. 

" We never expected such a wonderful experience. This is the first time experience in my life which motivated me to work for a green society. Similar efforts can raise our environmental consciousness and this will improve our self confidence." Sheril, one of the resource persons of Clean and Green Project said. 

Vijeth, Dijo, Alex and Sajo were coordinated this program. All the sessions end with an environmental pledge which persuaded to Save Earth, Save Green, Go Green.
