Plants with Smile - Mulamoottil

Rev. Dr. Aabraham Mulamoottil (Former Principal, MACFAST) plants mango tree in the campus. Mr. George Mathew (Director, Radio), Mr. Glenda Fernadez (Project Oficer, CGT) and Mr. Shinu are seen.

Planting a tree is a good idea – exactly like a child. It grows to highs and become a refugee to numerous birds. If it is a mango tree, the sweet doubles. Rev. Dr. Abraham Mulamoottil (Former Principal, MACFAST) planted one more tree in the campus yesterday. Planting a tree is nothing special to him because he has already planted large number of trees in the campus. “This was a rubber estate and I have cut down all the rubber plants but planted same number of different trees. Every tree has a life cycle similarly as a human being and it should cut down when its time comes. There is nothing logic in n agitating against  'cutting down' but what is important is - replace it with another. Planting tree is not an outstanding work but protecting and maintaining it is most outstanding and deserving” He said. He appreciated the efforts of Kochumon (Campus Gardener) for keeping things very well.

'CARE MY TREE' - Rev. Dr. Aabraham Mulamoottil (Former Principal, MACFAST) waters a mango tree in the campus after the planting.

He looked keen to see the butterflies and enthralled by seeing new species – “Yes! Two more butterflies add to our habitat. This is why I am promoting flowering and fruiting trees.” He said. He explained his greening plans in Pushpagiri as part of Clean and Green Tiruvalla Project. Distribute 10 endogenous medicinal plants which have special immunity power against normal diseases so that people can keep them selves away from hospital for simple reasons. He mooted and idea for a herbal/medicinal nursery at Pushpagiri.
“We have a plan to plant one more tree (fruit) in the campus before he leaves from the college. Named as ‘Mulamoottil tree’ this will live in campus as a symbol of his love towards nature. It plans to plant on coming green hour days.” Paul V Mathew (Project Officer, CGT) said. Mr. George Mathew (Director, Radio), Ms. Glenda Fernadez (Project Coordinator, CGT) and Mr. Shinu (Radio) were present.

Green School initiative starts at Prince

Peringara Prince Marthanda Varma School joins hands with Clean and Green Tiruvalla.
Go green by having a school habitat on your campus .Yes, The first Green School campaign was started in Perinagra Prince Marthandavarama Higher Secondary - one of the oldest, traditional and pioneering  schools in Tiruvalla which has proved its excellency since 70 years .

Rev. Dr. Abraham Mulamoottil (Project Director, Clean and Green Tiruvalla)  addresses teachers of Prince Marthanada Varma Higher Secondary School, Peringara

The campus of Peringara Prince Marthdnada varma is the 'magical' green campus, beautiful, charming which opens the doors of unlimited opportunities by by fascinating students, teachers and parents. This Heritage School is enveloped by varieties of mango trees, herbs, spices and medicinal plants. Green brigadiers of Green Club, Kid Farmers group, open air class rooms, medicinal gardens and bio diversity park are the unique features which that gives an outstanding position to Prince.
Rev.Father Abharam Mulamootil said that "Kerala has an immense possibility to  become an education destination by projecting education as its Universal Selling Point.(USP) While developing Kerala as an education destination, Prince can expose and sharpen itself as green with environmental consciousness as a competitive advantage ". To give emphasis on the Clean and Green Tiruvalla he made the teachers clear that why we are choosing the schools that, children can easily capture the minds of the elders. Another major factor of focusing on children is the famous quote "today’s children are tomorrows citizen". If we could develop these thoughts to this young generation its sure that they will forward this to the coming generation. Better future - its our aim".
He referred about the newly  installed Plastic Shredder at Thukalsherri. Now plastics cannot be called as wastes. In this earth nothing is a waste. Its up to use on how we make use of these resources.

Prince Marthanad Varma plans to initiate various activities in hoilidays as part of its Green School initiative. "Making an apparent change in the attitude of children that is our passion. Our Green club members and brigadiers are now active to take up this initiative." Mrs. Soorya Manoj, Green Club coordinator said.

Drive for Green - A lung to earth

The team Green Hour - Staff steps in to action at their Green Hour - a new initiative of MACFAST College as part of its Clean and Green, Tiruvalla Project. The team planted trees in the campus to make the notion true - Clean and Green Campus - a chip for Green.

Rev. Fr. Pradeep Vazhatharamalayil, Principal MACFAST plants tree in the Campus at Green Hour

Rev. Fr. Pradeep Vazhatharamalayil, Principal MACFAST started his endeavor as Principal by planting a tree in the Campus -   GO GREEN. SAVE EARTH. "To start with Green is an outstanding privilege. We need to revamp it for common good and it  is our prime priority. " He said.

George Mathew (Director, Radio), Mr. Prajith (Chief Librarian), Mr. Saji (Chief Accountant), Sr. Melvin, Kochumon (Gardener) and  Green Volunteers @ MACFAST took initiative for this effort. The team up roared for more actions in  coming green hours. "Along with awareness - focus for actions is more important.  We envisage to go for more actions like tree planting, gardening, farming etc." Mr. George Mathew (President, Green Hour ) said.

We started it and what is more important is continue and maintain. Now, as a symbolic gesture, we had a tree planting ceremony here in our Campus. Fortunately, the movement towards a deeper commitment to environmental protection through planting new trees and taking care of the existing ones, is rapidly increasing all over the world. Hence, the task of environment protection is a universal responsibility of all of us. I think that is extremely important for us living in the society to not only take a keen interest in the cause of environmental protection, but also to implement this ideal in action by planting new trees.

If there is a tree in our courtyard, at least we can breath fresh air. Above all it is a lung to our mother earth, it creates an atmosphere of natural beauty and serenity - a refugee to diverse bird. Really, how sweet to listen their cherishing music - a natural rhythm of nature. We can eat the fruits from the tree, sit under it and enjoy the cool shade. Please allow this tree to grow up.

My dear friend, Let's cheer for Green. Not for words but for walks. Join hand for a common good - GO GREEN. SAVE MY EARTH.
